The C allele of P2X7 receptor gene 1513A/C polymorphism was also associated with increased susceptibility to pulmonary tuberculosis in Asians (C vs. A: OR 1.420, 95% CI 1.163-1.733, p=0.001; (CC+AC) vs. AA: OR 1.522, 95% CI 1.186-1.953, p=0.001).
The results indicate a significant association between rs2393799 polymorphism of the P2X7 gene and susceptibility to PTB (CT vs CC: OR = 6.5, 95%CI = 2.5-16.9, P < 0.0001; TT vs CC: OR = 3.3, 95%CI = 1.2-8.9, P = 0.018; TC+TT vs CC: OR = 2.56, 95%CI = 1.59-4.12, P < 0.0001).
We examined two 1513A/C and -762T/C polymorphisms at the P2X7 receptor in 168 patients with pulmonary TB (pTB), 55 patients with extrapulmonary TB (epTB) and 150 blood donors from Tunisia.
Six published case-control studies that investigated the association between the P2X7 receptorA1513C polymorphism and susceptibility to pulmonary tuberculosis in 2525 subjects were included in this meta-analysis.
