An increased synthesis of IL-8 during dedifferentiation of the tumor, and a typical expression pattern of the IL-8 receptor A were detected, indicating a function for IL-8 in biology of epithelial ovarian cancer.
These results indicate that VEGF and IL-8 are related to the malignant transformation process and can be considered as indicators of poor prognosis in epithelial ovarian cancer patients.

Together, our results demonstrate that HDAC inhibition specifically induces IL-8/CXCL8 expression in EOC cells and that the mechanism involves IKK, suggesting that using IKK inhibitors may increase the effectiveness of HDAC inhibitors when treating ovarian cancer and other solid tumors characterized by increased IL-8/CXCL8 expression.
