The risk of pulmonary tuberculosis was positively associated with the concentrations of interleukin-27 and adenosine deaminase in bronchoalveolar lavage fluids.
In terms of serum IL-27 levels, the -964 A/A genotype may be associated with a protective role that prevents the intrapulmonary spread of PTB rather than its development.
Finally, clinical analysis showed that IL-27 was detected in the bronchoalveolar lavage of patients with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB), and increased IL-27 concentrations were correlated with increased CXCL10 concentrations in patients with COPD and PTB.
