The purpose of this study was to investigate whether an aberrant DNA methylation of transcriptional and inflammatory factors, including <i>TBX21, GATA3, RORγt, FOXP3, IFN-γ, IL-4, IL-17A</i> and <i>TGF-β</i>, in CD4+T confers risk to BD.
This study was conducted in Turkish patients with BD to determine the frequency of the IL-4 gene 70 bp variable number of tandem repeats (VNTR) variant, and its association with clinical findings.
The aim of the current study was to define the expression on CD3+ T cells of six chemokine receptors associated with inflammatory sites and the expression of intracellular cytokines, such as interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) and interleukin-4 (IL-4), in Behcet's disease (BD).
Mitogen-stimulated IL-4 secretion was elevated in active patients, though the ratio of IFN-gamma:IL-4 secreting cells was significantly increased in active BD.
