Since the function of IFIT5 in BCa has not yet been characterized, we demonstrate that IFIT5 can induce EMT, promote cell migration and invasion, and increase the expression of ICAM1 in BCa via down-regulation of mature miR-99a.
Our data indicated that miR-99a might act as a tumor suppressor in bladder cancer and was significantly down-regulated in development of bladder cancer.
Generalized down-regulation of miRs, including those that target the fibroblast growth factor 3 pathway, such as miR-145, miR-101, miR-100, and miR-99a, has been observed in low-grade, non-muscle invasive BC.
