The combined hazard ratio (HR) suggested that a positive Bcl-2 status has a favourable impact on survival: 0.70 (95% confidence interval 0.57-0.86) in seven studies on stages I-II NSCLC; 0.50 (0.39-0.65) in eight studies on surgically resected NSCLC; 0.91 (0.76-1.10) in six studies on any stage NSCLC; 0.57 (0.41-0.78) in five studies on squamous cell cancer; 0.75 (0.61-0.93) and 0.71 (0.61-0.83) respectively for five studies detecting Bcl-2 by immunohistochemistry with Ab clone 100 and for 13 studies assessing Bcl-2 with Ab clone 124; 0.92 (0.73-1.16) for four studies on small cell lung cancer; 1.26 (0.58-2.72) for three studies on neuroendocrine tumours.
This study examined the relationship between tumour vascularization, a measure of tumour angiogenesis, and bcl-2 and p53 expression in operable non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Further, increased neuroendocrine marker and decreased EGFR expression as well as greater sensitivity to BCL2 family inhibition are observed in resistant SCLC transformed cancers compared with resistant NSCLCs.
Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression analysis indicated that low miR-630, high Bcl-2, and a combination of both may independently predict poor overall survival and short relapse-free survival in patients with NSCLC.
Taken together, our results demonstrated that miR-206 suppressed c-Met and Bcl2 expression in NSCLS and could function as a potent tumor suppressor in c-Met/Bcl2-over expressing tumors.
In contrast, sulphur inhibited otherwise upregulated survival signaling in NSCLC cells by perturbing the nuclear translocation of p65NFκB, its association with p300 histone acetylase, and subsequent transcription of Bcl-2.
Prognostic value of the expression of p53, bcl-2, and bax oncoproteins, and neovascularization in patients with radically resected non-small-cell lung cancer.
This study further extends the biological role of miR-7 in NSCLC A549 and H460 cells and identifies BCL-2 as a novel target possibly involved in miR-7-mediated growth suppression and apoptosis induction of NSCLC cells.
The results revealed that GA inhibited the proliferation and induced the apoptosis of NSCLC A549 cells in dose‑ and time‑dependent manners, which was associated with upregulated B‑cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl‑2)‑associated X protein (Bax) and downregulated Bcl‑2.
First, we determined whether bcl-2 and bax mRNA were expressed in three morphologically distinct NSCLC cell lines: NCI-H226 (squamous), NCI-H358 (adenocarcinoma), and NCI-H596 (adenosquamous).
Further analysis indicated that the expression of the anti-apoptotic protein bcl-2 was greatly reduced in the NSCLC cell lines H460 and A549 (both -p16, +p53, +Rb), again only by the 5th day after Adv/p16 infection, but no affect on Bax expression was observed.
In the present study the anti-cancer mechanism of pyrazole, was examined by the expression level of proteins Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), Bcl-2-associated X protein (Bax), B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2) and Cyclin-dependent kinase-2 (CDK-2) which are commonly associated with the cell signaling pathways that control cell survival and apoptosis, that could facilitate to develop a novel target and effective treatment approach for patients with NSCLC.
Indeed, the same MCL1 stabilization system was also observed in several NSCLC cell lines; in these cells, their specific molecular-targeted drug or ABT-263 (Navitoclax), the specific inhibitor of BCL-2 and BCL-XL, but not of MCL1, effectively induced apoptosis in combination with CMA inhibition.
It was found that high expression of Etk occurs in 74.6% of SCLC cases, but only in 40% of NSCLC cases, and there is marked difference in the expression levels of Bcl-2, Bcl-X(L) and p53 between Etk-positive and Etk-negative SCLC cases.
We assessed the biological activity (STR, mitochondrial membrane potential, expression level of Bcl-2 family proteins) of gefitinib on NSCLCs at different cell densities.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between a panel of biological markers (p53, Bcl-2, HER-2, Ki67, DNA ploidy and S-phase fraction) and clinical-pathological parameters and its impact on outcome in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
These results strongly suggest that CCL21/CCR7 prevents apoptosis by upregulating the expression of bcl-2 and by downregulating the expression of bax and caspase-3 potentially via the ERK pathway in A549 and H460 cells of NSCLC.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the predictive role of VEGF for chemotherapy response, its relationship with p53, Rb, Bcl-2 and hemoglobin levels and its impact on overall survival in pts with advanced NSCLC.
