Non-canonical rhWnt5a induced down-regulation of both ABCB1 and ABCG2 transporters in the primary human lung aggregate tissue model recreating the SCC-like transporter pattern.
To investigate the feasibility of using attenuated Salmonella typhi as an in vivo delivery vector for multidrug-resistance gene (MDR1) small interference RNA (siRNA) in a mouse model bearing human tongue squamous cell cancer.
In this study, the expression and transcriptional regulation of the multidrug resistance-1 (MDR1) gene in multidrug-resistant SCCTF cells and -sensitive SCCKN cells derived from human squamous carcinoma were investigated.
These results suggest that P-gp-related MDR in SGA is an inherent phenotype caused by both high levels of P-gp induction and activated P-gp production during VCR treatment, while that in SCC is an acquired phenotype chiefly caused by induction of P-gp.
In all instances, whether tumors or adjacent normal tissue samples, DNA amplification was not detected except in 1 adenocarcinoma and 2 squamous cell carcinomas that had a low level of amplification of mdr1 gene.
In this present study we have measured RNA levels of mdr1 and gst-pi in primary human breast tumour biopsies prior to chemotherapy and from tumours which have different inherent responses to doxorubicin treatment, including colon, head and neck squamous cell carcinomas and myeloid leukaemias.
