TH2 chemokines (CCL13, CCL17) were consistently elevated in patients with AD across all ages (P < .05), whereas TH1 (CXCL10) and TH17 (KYNU, CCL20) markers incrementally increased with age in both patients with AD and healthy subjects.
Interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-18, C-X-C motif chemokine (CXCL) 8 (CXCL8), C-C motif chemokine ligand (CCL) 22 (CCL22), CCL17, CXCL10 and CCL2 were significantly higher (P < 0·05) in lesional AD skin compared with nonlesional AD skin; the opposite trend was seen for IL-1α.
To determine whether a different pattern of production of IP-10 by fibroblasts corresponds to the level of this chemokine in the plasma of patients with AD, we also checked the plasma IP-10 levels in 33 AD patients and 10 healthy donors.
