Collectively, all t(3;8)(q27;q24) cases had a germinal center (GC) phenotype, and most had complex karyotypes (22/24, 92%), including frequent concomitant BCL2 rearrangements (17/24, 71%).
Lastly, we show that ectopic expression of Bcl-2 can partially rescue the GC phenotype in MALT1-deficient animals by prolonging the lifespan of BCR-activated B cells, but plasma cell differentiation and Ab production remain defective.
Moreover, Bcl-2 may modulate GC-signalling to apoptosis through its association with fundamental cellular processes such as energy state, Ca2+ homeostasis and transmembrane transport.
