The serum level of the 'vitamin D binding protein' (DBP) or Gc ('group-specific component'), its phenotype distribution and the quantitative estimation of the different electrophoretic isoforms were determined in a sample of healthy individuals (blood donors) and in patients with alcoholic hepatitis.
