This study was conducted to determine the role of the relationship between steatosis and serum adiponectin levels in the progression of liver damage in HCV genotype 1 without known risk factors for NASH.
We investigated the association of inflammatory [tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha, interleukin (IL)-6] and anti-inflammatory cytokines (adiponectin and IL-10) with IR in chronic HCV infection.
