Chronic Ale treatment significantly up-regulated PPARα/PPARγ receptors and down-regulated tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and NF-κB expression in the liver, splanchnic tissues, collateral vessels, and intestines of cirrhotic rats with PH.
In this study, cirrhotic bile duct ligated (BDL) rats with PH were treated with Infliximab (IFX, a monoclonal antibody against TNF) and its impact on modulation of vascular tone was assessed.
Importantly, Fn14 was the only TNF superfamily receptor exclusively upregulated in AH compared with other liver diseases and correlated with both 90-day mortality and severity of portal hypertension.
