Interaction between NUDT15 and ABCC4 variants enhances intolerability of 6-mercaptopurine in Japanese patients with childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
We investigated the role of TPMT, ITPA, ABCC4 and ABCB1 genetic variants as predictors of outcome and 6-mercaptopurine induced toxicity during the maintenance phase of treatment in pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Overall, our findings indicate that variability in the ABCB1 and ABCC4 genes may confer higher sensitivity to maintenance chemotherapy of ALL, and therefore its determination may be helpful in individualizing this treatment.
