The aim of this study was to evaluate the incidence and prognostic significance of RAG-1 and -2 mRNA transcripts and clonal IgH gene rearrangements in a cohort of uniformly treated AML patients; the available literature is also reviewed.
Little attention, however, has been given to the relationship between prognosis and IgH gene rearrangement in patients with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML).
Combined results from this study and from literature data on 378 unselected ANLL revealed that IgH gene rearrangements occurred in 14% of ANLL and Ig kappa gene rearrangements in 2% of ANLL patients.
