TLX1/HOX11 is an oncogenic transcription factor in human T-cell leukemia, however, the molecular basis for its transforming activity has remained elusive.
We have previously cloned two mouse homeobox genes Tlx-1 (T-cell leukemia homeobox gene-1) and a related gene Tlx-2 based on their homology to human HOX11, a putative proto-oncogene involved in human T-cell leukemia.
