Our study demonstrates significant differences in lung tumor detectability on chest radiographs between PGY-1 trainees and pulmonary specialists according to tumor size, extent of GGO, and tumor location.
Genetic susceptibility of lung cancer associated with common variants in the 3' untranslated regions of the adenosine triphosphate-binding cassette B1 (ABCB1) and ABCC1 candidate transporter genes for carcinogen export.
Antibody and complementary DNA probes utilized for detection of the MDR1 gene product and mRNA levels, respectively, revealed that prior to drug treatment the lung tumor had virtually no detectable P-glycoprotein while both colon carcinomas displayed low and heterogeneous expression of this resistance-related protein.
Since P-glycoprotein expression in lung tumors is generally low, these MDR lung cancer cell lines can be used as a model to study alternative mechanisms leading to multidrug resistance in this tumor type.
