Data suggest that IL-10 in meningococcal sepsis plasma regulates a variety of genes and signaling pathways, likely leading to an overall inhibitory effect on the inflammatory response induced in meningococcal sepsis.
In the patient plasma system, GSEA and IPA in sum identified 122 genes associated with oxidative phosphorylation/mitochondrial dysfunction to be down-regulated by meningococcal sepsis plasma depleted for IL-10.
