StCA were present in 22 of 38 with APS-1 (57.9%) (11 of 13 with POF); in five of 13 with APS-4 (38.5%) (three of four with POF); in 53 of 162 with APS-2 (32.7%) (17 of 26 with POF), and in one of 28 isolated AD patients (3.6%).
Autosomal disorders such as mutations of the phosphomannomutase 2 (PMM2) gene, the galactose-1-phosphate uridyltransferase (GALT) gene, the FSH receptor (FSHR) gene, chromosome 3q containing the Blepharophimosis gene and the autoimmune regulator (AIRE) gene, responsible for polyendocrinopathy-candidiasis-ectodermal dystrophy, have been identified in patients with POF.
One of the patients, a woman with Addison's disease, autoimmune thyroiditis, and premature menopause was heterozygous for a point mutation (G1021A, Val301Met) in the first plant homeodomain zinc finger domain of the autoimmune regulator (AIRE) gene.
