We hypothesized that the downstream targets of p38 MAPK, MAPK-activated protein kinase 2 and/or 3 (MK2 and/or MK3), play an important role in mediating injury in experimental nephrotic syndrome via their actions on their downstream substrates heat shock protein B1 (HSPB1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2).
