IGF-I protects the hippocampal somatostatinergic system from β-amyloid (Aβ) insult and although neither IGF-I-derived peptides bind to IGF-I receptors, they exert protective actions in several neurological disorders.
This study is helpful for interpretation of the association of IGF-1 with TNF-α and the neurobiological effects elicited by interaction of IGF-1 and TNF-α in neurological disorders.
