GM-CSF, IL-11, and IL-12p40 were significantly higher in nongranulomatous uveitis (BD and HLA-B27) than in granulomatous uveitis (sarcoidosis and VKH), whereas APRIL and TWEAK were significantly higher in granulomatous uveitis.
We examined 12 chemokines using a MILLIPLEX® MAP Kit (Millipore, Darmstadt, Germany) in the same BALF samples of the same 44 patients (IgG4-RRD, n = 11; sarcoidosis, n = 33) in which we had previously evaluated the cytokines.
We conclude that proangiogenic VEGF, and profibrotic FGF-2 and PDGF-AB may contribute to the progression of sarcoidosis, whereas TGF-β1, with its dual anti-inflammatory and profibrotic actions, may play a dichotomous protective or deleterious role.
CCL8, CCL13 and CCL20 levels were significantly higher in nongranulomatous uveitis (BD and HLA-B27-associated uveitis) than in granulomatous uveitis (sarcoidosis and VKH disease).
SSc-specific autoantibodies including anticentromere antibody (ACA), anti-topoisomerase I antibody, anti-RNA polymerase III antibody and anti-U1RNP antibody were examined in sarcoidosis patients.
Compared to the NSP group, the SP group had a more frequent requirement for any sarcoidosis treatment, corticosteroid treatment, and non-corticosteroid treatment at some time and within the most recent year of follow up (at least 50% more than the NP group with strong statistical differences with p values all 0.01 or less).

The periostin concentration in the BALF increased significantly with pulmonary eosinophil ia and was higher in AEP and CEP patients than in healthy volunteers and sarcoidosis patients, even after adjusting the albumin concentration.
CCL8, CCL13 and CCL20 levels were significantly higher in nongranulomatous uveitis (BD and HLA-B27-associated uveitis) than in granulomatous uveitis (sarcoidosis and VKH disease).

IL-19 levels were significantly higher in patients with HLA-B27-associated uveitis than in patients with BD, sarcoidosis and VKH disease (p < 0.001; p = 0.002; p < 0.001, respectively).
In peripheral blood, the proportion of MAIT cells was lower (P = 0.0002), but the expression levels of CD69 and programmed death 1 on MAIT cells were higher in sarcoidosis patients than in healthy controls.

We found sIL-2R, CRP, SAA and chitotriosidase to be the best markers to confirm sarcoidosis (highest sensitivity), while ACE, gammaglobulins and lysozyme may be more useful for discarding sarcoidosis (highest specificity), taking into account that with the use of a higher cut-off we can increase specificity and with a lower cut-off we can increase sensitivity.
