In a subgroup of 14 postmenopausal women with schizophrenia from a 24-week, randomized, parallel, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial (NCT015736370), we investigated changes in SP1 and SP4 protein levels in peripheral blood mononuclear cells.
We previously reported reduced levels of transcription factor SP4 protein, but not transcript, in the cerebellum in bipolar disorder and associated with more severe negative symptoms in schizophrenia.
