In this work we found that, in the epilepsy-resistant Proechimys, hippocampal and cortical levels of inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, IL-10, TNF-α) and VEGF remained unchanged 24h after SE, strongly contrasting to the high levels of post-SE changes observed in Wistar rats.
