In contrast, The ABC pattern of EPIYA motif was less frequent in the H. pylori isolates from GU (41/50, 82%) than in those from CG (80/81, 98.80%) (Age-sex-adjusted odds ratio (OR) = 0.020, 95% CI = 0.002-0.259; P = 0.003).
The types of EPIYA motif detected by PCR among 28 DU strains were 13 ABC, eight ABCC, six ABCCC, and in one patient both ABC and ABCCCCC; among nine GU strains were two ABC, five ABCC and two ABCCC; and among 40 gastritis strains were 35 ABC and five ABCC.
We assessed CMA/B A/G and ACE insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphisms in H. pylori-positive gastric cancers (n = 119), gastric ulcers (n = 127), and duodenal ulcers (n = 105), and controls (n = 294) consisting of H. pylori-positive gastritis alone (n = 162) and H. pylori-negative subjects (n = 132) by PCR methods.
The relative mean level of TERT mRNA after normalization with the β-actin reference gene and comparison with the respective adjacent normal mucosa was slightly increased in the IM and GU groups, 2.008 ± 2.605 and 2.730 ± 4.120, respectively, but high TERT mRNA expression was observed in the GC group (17.271 ± 33.852).
