Alpha-2 macroglobulin, a protease inhibitor associated with stroke, was elevated at baseline and subsequently normalized with lonafarnib therapy.ConclusionThis is the first study to employ a multi-analyte array platform in HGPS.
Middle-aged male specific brain ABCA1-deficient (ABCA1-B/-B) and floxed-control (ABCA1fl/fl) mice were subjected to distal middle-cerebral artery occlusion (dMCAo) and gavaged with saline or GW3965 (10 mg/kg) or intracerebral infusion of artificial cerebrospinal fluid or human plasma HDL3 in ABCA1-B/-B stroke mice, starting 24 hours after dMCAo and daily until euthanization 14 days after dMCAo.
This study investigates the effect of five non-synonymous SNPs of ABCA1 gene on plasma HDL-C levels in Pakistani individuals free of ischemic heart disease and stroke.
Our data confirm earlier observations that ABCA1R219K and V771M polymorphisms may be associated with a protective role against CHD and extend those to another important pathologic condition, namely stroke.
Replication of protein-coding variants in candidate genes was observed for 2 previously reported GWAS associations: ZFHX3 (cardioembolic stroke) and ABCA1 (large-vessel stroke).
We then assessed the relation of allelic variants of genes modulating clopidogrel absorption (ABCB1), metabolic activation (CYP3A5 and CYP2C19), and biologic activity (P2RY12 and ITGB3) to the risk of death from any cause, nonfatal stroke, or myocardial infarction during 1 year of follow-up.
In patients treated with clopidogrel, ABCB13435C→T genotype was significantly associated with the risk of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, or stroke (p=0·0064).
Therefore the present study was taken up to investigate the role of C3435T polymorphism (rs 1045642) of multiple drug resistance-1 (MDR-1) gene with aspirin resistance in stroke patients.
In this review, we present the ABC Pathway for the holistic, integrated management of patients diagnosed with AF: "A" avoid stroke with anticoagulation; "B" for better symptom management with patient-centered, symptom directed decisions on rate or rhythm control; and "C" cardiovascular and comorbidity risk reduction, including lifestyle factors and psychological morbidity.
The ABC-stroke and ABC-bleeding scores evaluated in this anticoagulated clinical trial cohort were well calibrated and outperformed the CHA2DS2-VASc and HAS-BLED scores, respectively.
Using animal models, our data show that removal of plasticity-inhibiting signals in the spinal cord (via intraspinal injections of the enzyme chondroitinase ABC) augments rewiring of circuits connecting the brain to the spinal cord, even weeks after stroke.
Our aim was to investigate the short-term variability of the cardiac biomarkers and evaluate whether the ABCstroke risk score provides a stable short-term risk estimate.
There is no association between the ABCC8 polymorphism gene and the beta-cell function or the prevalence of chronic diabetic complications in obese patients with long-term T2DM, except for brain stroke.
