Tourette syndrome (TS) is characterized by one of the chronic neuropsychiatric disorders in multiple children, and the pathogenesis of Tourette syndrome (TS) has not been previously elucidated.The aim of this study was designed to investigate the effects of rhynchophylline (RH) on Tourette syndrome (TS) in rats.TS model was established in rats and BV2 cells by the selective 5-HT2A/2C agonist 1-(2,5-dimethoxy-4-iodophenyl)-2-aminopropane (DOI).
Our study suggested that the HTR2A102T/C and -1438A/G polymorphisms may not be associated with susceptibility to TS, and thus do not play a major role in the development of TS in the Chinese Han population.
As neuroimaging studies allude to dopaminergic and serotonergic dysfunction in GTS and serotonin as an important factor for dopamine release, genotyping of common polymorphisms in the serotonergic receptor (HTR1A: C-1019G; HTR2A: T102C, His452Tyr, A-1438G; HTR2C: C-759T, G-697C) and transporter genes (SLC6A4) was carried out in 87 patients with GTS, compared with 311 matched controls.
Nominally significant association was found at the HTR2Ars6311 polymorphism in subjects with tic disorder and OCD (p = .05), replicating a previous finding in Tourette syndrome and OCD.
