This study investigated the associations between single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) in tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily(TNFRSF) genes and the survival of patients with TCL.
We could classify our cases according to the following seven categories--(i) STCL: n = 16; (ii) extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type: n = 2; (iii) cutaneous gamma/delta T-cell lymphoma: n = 2; (iv) anaplastic CD30+ large T-cell lymphoma: n = 1; (v) diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, secondary cutaneous: n = 3; (vi) lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma, secondary cutaneous: n = 1; (vii) specific cutaneous manifestations of myelogenous leukemia: n = 1.
A beta-TCR clonal rearrangement was found in 19 of 19 tumor samples considered as malignant T-cell lymphoma on the basis of histopathology and of the CD3-positive phenotype of tumoral cells, and in two cases of CD3-positive lymphomatoid disorders.

The first clone was characterized by a reciprocal translocation t(5;7)(q13;q35) involving 7q35, namely the TCR-beta gene, as expected in T-cell lymphomas.

Although it is still not clear what the most specific and biologic variation of LMP1 gene in nasal NK/T-cell lymphoma is, the sequence data may be valuable on the study for pathogenesis of nasal NK/T-cell lymphoma and EBV molecular epidemiology.
In conclusion, the results of this study suggest that demonstration of clonal TCR gene rearrangements and an aberrant phenotype, as well as demonstration of many admixed CD8+ T cells and B cells can be considered as useful additional criteria in the differentiation between pseudo-T-cell lymphomas and CTCLs.
The structures of rearranged gamma-chain T-cell antigen receptor (TCR) genes were analyzed in 5 cases of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL), in 15 cases of peripheral T-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (T-NHL), in 1 case with large granular CD8 lymphocytosis, 1 case with CD8 lymphocytosis after autologous bone marrow transplantation for Hodgkin's disease, and in 2 cases with nonneoplastic diseases.
These results indicate that EBV in Japanese non-Hodgkin's lymphomas is exclusively of type A with a specific deletion in LMP-1 and that it tends to be present in T cell lymphomas.

IL10rs1800896 was associated with B cell lymphoma [per-allele odds ratio (OR) = 1.25, 95 % confidence interval (CI) 1.08-1.45; p trend = 0.003], specifically diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) (per-allele OR = 1.29, 95 % CI 1.08-1.53; p trend = 0.004), as well as T cell lymphoma (per-allele OR = 1.44, 95 % CI 1.13-1.82; p trend = 0.003).
