We demonstrate correlation between urinary and serum PlGF and that in women with preexisting diabetes in pregnancy, serum PlGF is a better predictor of preeclampsia than the sFLT-1-to-PlGF ratio.
Thereby, we demonstrated that serum levels of PlGF were lower in GDM patients compared with controls, which was accompanied by decreased skin temperature in the supraclavicular region.
Within the limitations of the present study, the results support that first trimester maternal glycemia combined with GCF-PlGF concentrations could be a surrogate biomarker for the future development of GDM in pre-symptomatic women.
