Genotype and allele distribution of rs35771982 and rs4664308 differed significantly between PLA2R-Ab(+) and PLA2R-Ab(-) IMN patients in Group B (OR = 1.59 (1.09-2.31), <i>P</i> = 0.018 and OR = 1.15 (1.03-1.29), <i>P</i> = 0.005, respectively).
Serum levels of phospholipase A2 receptor antibody (PLA2R; SAb) and glomerular deposits of PLA2R antigen (GAg) have been detected in patients with idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN).
Recent evidence shows that PLA2R is a major autoantigen causing idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN), which is an autoimmune disease and one of the most common causes for nephrotic syndrome in adults.
The clinical features and prevalence of PLA2R positive staining in adolescent patients with IMN were similar to adult patients, suggesting that they probably have a close etiology and pathogenesis.
Furthermore, IMN patients without PLA2R exhibited a better response to immunosuppressants, when compared to patients with PLA2R-associated IMN (without vs with, 66.7% vs 62.5% at 6 months and 100% vs 87.5% at 12 months), but the difference was not statistically significant.Patients with PLA2R-associated IMN had higher disease severity than IMN patients without PLA2R.
In conclusion, the results of the present study indicate that the anti-PLA2R antibody level is correlated with the severity of IMN, whereas anti-AR and anti-SOD2 antibody levels are not.
The titer of anti-PLA2R antibody was significantly correlated with both TUpro and serum Alb levels of pre- and post-therapeutic values in IMN (P<0.05), but did not have a relationship with Ccr (P>0.05).
Here, we studied the presence of anti-PLA2R and anti-THSD7A antibodies in patients with biopsy-proven IMN (n = 212), secondary membranous nephropathy (SMN, n = 118), and other kidney diseases (n = 84).
According to recent studies, the phospholipase A2 receptor 1 (PLA2R1) may be used as a biomarker to diagnose idiopathic membranous nephropathy (iMN).
Diagnostic specificity of autoantibodies to M-type phospholipase A2 receptor (PLA2R) in differentiating idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN) from secondary forms and other glomerular diseases.
Furthermore, CD14+CD163+CD206+ M2-like cell counts in the patients with incipient IMN were also positively related with 24 h urinary albumin levels and the values of serum M-type phospholipase A2 receptor (PLA2R).
The level of serum phospholipase A2 receptors (PLA2R) antibody was detected in 106 iMN and 162 aMN patients. There were 278 iMN patients and 299 aMN patients who were included into this study in 3210 cases of renal biopsy during a 10-year period in our hospital.
