Serum levels of FABP3 in PM/DM patients were significantly increased and were mainly distributed in slow twitch muscle fibers, displaying a closer association with muscle weakness than did serum levels of CK and myoglobin.
We have experienced some patients with FCMD who showed sudden exacerbation of muscle weakness with marked elevation of serum creatine kinase (CK) and urinary myoglobin levels a few days after a febrile episode of viral infection, occasionally leading to death.
