Knockdown of lncRNA H19 repressed cell proliferation, migration and invasion as well as EMT and metastasis via STAT3-EZH2-β-catenin pathway, while lncRNA H19 regulated STAT3 negatively regulated let-7c in EC cell lines.
To explore the biological role of STAT3 in esophageal cancer, we used small hairpin RNA to knockdown the expression of the STAT3 gene in the esophageal carcinoma ECA109 cell line and the cell apoptosis, cell cycle and cell migration were investigated.
Thus, our results suggest that STAT3 inhibition is a valid approach to induce oesophageal carcinoma cell mitochondrial-dependent apoptosis in therapeutic strategies against oesophageal cancers.
Here we found STAT3 overexpression in esophageal cancer cells and tissues, and its overexpression in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) tissues correlated with beta-catenin cytoplasmic/nuclear accumulation.
