Mechanistic study showed that coadministration of caffeine and TMZ suppressed the phosphorylation of ATM and p53 and downregulated p21 expression, thus releasing DNA-damaged cells from G2 arrest into premature mitosis.
Caffeine induced G(2)/M phase cell cycle arrest in NB4 cells in association with the induction of phosphorylation at the Ser-15 residue of p53 and induction of tyrosine phosphorylation of cdc2.
