The p53 mutation, therefore, seems to be related to tumour progression of small-intestinal cancer; however, no relationship was found between the PTEN/MMAC1 gene and the small-intestinal cancer.
These findings suggest that p53 plays a major role in the progression of carcinoma of the small intestine, whereas the role of K-ras mutation is much less significant.
