Atorvastatin, administered at a fixed daily dose of 10 mg, was not beneficial in lowering lipid levels in children with SRNS; rise in serum albumin was associated with improvement in dyslipidemia.
Such protective effect of SAG resulted in preservation of liver function observed as normal level of total protein and albumin in plasma as well as inhibition of dyslipidemia in liver.
Chronic administration of ACEMB prior to CCl<sub>4</sub> intoxication: i) attenuated the leakage of liver injury markers, such as, enzymes (AST, ALT, GGT, ALP and LDH) and biomolecules (bilirubin) into the blood circulation; ii) normalized the concentration of total proteins, albumin and globulin to control level; and iii) protected the liver against dyslipidemia.
