(1) To determine the serum levels of vitamin D, calcium and C-reactive protein (CRP) in patients with psoriasis vulgaris, (2) To compare these levels with the serum levels of controls, and (3) To correlate them with the severity of the disease.
Elevated levels of the biomarkers of inflammation (TNF-α, CRP, and IL-6) and the indicators of apoptosis (cfDNA, circulating nucleosomes) proved that exacerbated psoriasis vulgaris is associated with a high degree of systemic inflammatory responses and dysregulated apoptotic pathways.
