Frequent loss of heterozygosity of SMAD4 locus and prognostic impacts of SMAD4 immunohistochemistry in gastric adenocarcinoma with enteroblastic differentiation.
The immunohistochemical expression of Smad4 and Smad7 was evaluated in 151 surgically resected samples of gastric adenocarcinoma in order to examine their correlation with clinicopathologic findings and patients' survival.
Immunohistochemical stain for Smad4 revealed that expression of Smad4 was significantly lower in diffuse-type gastric adenocarcinoma than intestinal-type gastric adenocarcinomas.
