We report that FGF-2 is significantly upregulated in CSCs and significantly increases CSC content in ESCC cell lines by inducing epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT).
EC-GI-10 cells and ESCC from patients with EC showed endogenous expression of FGF2, a specific ligand for FGFR3IIIc, suggesting that the upregulated expression of FGFR3IIIc may create autocrine FGF signaling in ESCC.
In this study, we detected the expression of VEGF, TGF-alpha, PD-ECGF and bFGF in tissue specimens from 96 patients with SCC of the esophagus by immunohistochemical staining.
