Pituicytoma can also mimic other neoplasms of the sellar and parasellar regions microscopically - meningioma, schwannoma and pilocytic astrocytoma - and shares immunohistochemical expression of TTF-1 with spindle cell oncocytoma and granular cell tumor of the sellar region, suggesting a common histogenesis.
