The reporter plasmid under the control of the uPAR promoter (PUCUPARLacZ) had the ability to express beta-gal in colon cancer cells (human colon adenocarcinoma [SW480] and human colorectal carcinoma [HCT116] cell lines), while it could not express beta-gal in nontransformed human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) and normal colon cells.
