Patients with age-related cataract, regular corneal astigmatism less than 1.25 diopters (D) and a clinically significant vitreomacular pathology (epiretinal membrane [ERM], macular hole, or vitreomacular traction [VMT] syndrome) who had combined phacovitrectomy with internal limiting membrane peeling were enrolled.
The proteome of 34 vitreous humor samples (dry AMD: n = 6; nAMD: n = 10; proliferative diabetic retinopathy [PDR]: n = 9; epiretinal membrane [ERM]: n = 9) was analyzed by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry.
All three cases in this series developed a FTMH less than 7 months following vitrectomy (for epiretinal membrane [ERM], n = 1) and retinal detachment (n = 2) that demonstrated spontaneous resolution within 2 months of symptom onset, without intervention.
