The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of estrogen receptor α (ERα) and progesterone receptor B (PRB) in the stroma and carcinoma tissues of cervical cancer and their relationship to clinical characteristics and the status of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection.
We identified the lnc-IL17RA-11 transcription factor ER-alpha as the most likely HPV infection associated factor promoting increased lnc-IL17RA-11 levels.
Most of the samples with HPV infection without atypia showed a shift in estrogen receptor expression since this protein appeared mainly in the intermediate and superficial cell layers.
