Eight patients had complex CHD with one having unoperated double inlet left ventricle with ventriculo-arterial discordance, one had double outlet right ventricle and six with complete atrio-ventricular septal defect.
We present a case of a child with bidirectional Glenn anastomosis for double inlet left ventricle that suffered a stroke despite aspirin prophylaxis; the patient was combined homozygous for prothrombin G20210A mutation and for methylenetetrahydrofolate reductaseC677T mutation as well.
In humans, non-synonymous GATA4 sequence variants were associated with ECD (2/43), ASD (1/8), and RV hypoplasia in the context of double inlet left ventricle (1/9), forms of CHD that overlapped with abnormalities seen in the mouse model.
