We have found the SCL-90-R subscale of phobic anxiety and the BSI-18 somatization subscale most clinically valid when measuring psychological distress in PD patients.
The comparison of the patient and control groups based on SCL-90-R findings demonstrated that the patient group scores in somatization, anxiety (p = 0.000), depression (p = 0.003), anger (p = 0.02), interpersonal sensitivity (p = 0.006), phobia (p = 0.001), paranoid thoughts (p = 0.012), psychosis (p = 0.031) subscales and additional subscale (p = 0.014) and general symptom index (p = 0.001) scores were higher.
However, patients -but not controls- demonstrated significant negative correlations of leptin to the 'somatization', 'anxiety', and 'phobic anxiety' SCL-90-R subscales.
People at risk of HD with the recommended test postponement showed lower rate of neuroticism and EPQ-A lie score, higher values on the phobia and the so-called 'positive symptom distress index' in SCL-90 and lower quality of life than people at risk of HD with the recommendation to continue.
There was a significant association between the MME genotypes and the SCL-90 scores for phobic anxiety, obsessive-compulsive and anxiety at a Bonferroni corrected alpha value of 0.0125.
