On day 14 postfracture, we revealed early and increased trabecular formation in the callus of SCI rats, despite a marked 75% decrease in OPG-positive cells, and 41% decrease in density.
Conclusion: In fracture healing of aged mice EPO treatment increases callus TMD as well as OPG and RANKL expression, indicating an accelerated bone turnover when compared to controls.
The influence of OPG gene therapy on callus formation, callus tissue structural strength, apparent material properties, and histology of tibia fractures in rats was investigated after 3 weeks and 8 weeks of healing.
