Recent studies have shown that pentraxin-3 (PTX-3), osteoprogerin (OPG), and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) are key factors in MetS pathophysiology, but evidence for endorsing their clinical use is currently unclear and insufficient.
The pooled results using random effects model indicated that melatonin supplementation significantly reduced C-reactive protein (CRP) (SMD = - 1.80; 95% CI - 3.27, - 0.32; P = 0.01; I2: 95.2) and interleukin 6 (IL-6) concentrations (SMD = - 2.02; 95% CI - 3.57, - 0.47; P = 0.01; I2: 91.2) among patients with MetS and related disorders; however, it did not affect tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) concentrations (SMD = - 1.87; 95% CI - 3.81, 0.07; P = 0.05; I2: 94.4).
A statistically significant decrease in the concentration of TNF-α after treatment was also found (baseline, 5.3 ± 1.4 vs. post-treatment, 3.5 ± 1.3, <i>p</i> < 0.05).Our findings suggest that the consumption of the dry fruit of <i>Sechium edule</i> has an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect in older adults with metabolic syndrome.
Moreover, we found a positive relationship between OM AM and tumor necrosis factor alpha mRNA levels and AM-immunoreactive area in OM tissue followed the features of the metabolic syndrome.
A prospective study on the prevalence of metabolic syndrome among healthy french families: two cardiovascular risk factors (HDL cholesterol and tumor necrosis factor-alpha) are revealed in the offspring of parents with metabolic syndrome.
The objective of this work was to determine the role of TNFα-308G/A gene polymorphism in metabolic syndrome (MetS) and coronary artery disease (CAD) with obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
In this study, we used the galectin 2 (LGALS2) genotype, which affects LTA secretion but is located on another chromosome than the HLA gene cluster or TNF, to examine the relationship between the LTA pathway and traits of the metabolic syndrome.
Studies were identified by searches of the literature for reports using the terms: diabetes, insulin resistance, hypertension, obesity or metabolic syndrome and TNF, variants or polymorphism or alleles, and Nco or -308.
To investigate whether the G-308A polymorphism of the TNF-α gene may influence obesity, insulin resistance, fasting plasma lipids, serum leptin levels, and the incidence of metabolic syndrome.
Moreover, for three of the five components of MetS - waist circumference, fasting plasma triglycerides, systolic blood pressure - an increase was associated with increased GCF TNF-α level in boys.No such findings were seen in girls.
Ameliorated TNF-α-induced inflammation and insulin resistance in adipocytes via activation of insulin signaling and enhanced GLUT4 translocation suggesting a reduced hyperglycemia associated with the metabolic syndrome.
This paper aims to investigate the association between psychological stress and MS with respect to the tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) and neuropeptide Y (NPY) genes in the Han and Hui ethnic groups.
α1-adrenoceptor blockade, endothelial protection, TNF-α suppressing and antioxidant activity together with favorable pharmacokinetic parameters determines high efficacy of MH-76, leading to the effective improvement of hemodynamic and metabolic disturbances in metabolic syndrome.
Significantly higher CRP and lower adiponectin levels were observed in those who met any MetS criteria, whereas increased TNF-alpha was observed in only those with ATP-III-MetS.
Additive effect of polymorphisms in the IL-6, LTA, and TNF-{alpha} genes and plasma fatty acid level modulate risk for the metabolic syndrome and its components.
This study aimed to evaluate the association between serum vitamin D levels and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) parameters, such as metabolic syndrome (MS), inflammatory cytokines (tumor necrosis factor, high sensitive C-reactive protein) and adipokines (adiponectin, leptin).
This meta-analysis showed beneficial effects of RS on improving FPG, insulin, HbA1c, total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and TNF-α levels in patients with MetS and related disorders, but it did not affect HOMA-IR, triglycerides, HDL-cholesterol, CRP and IL-6 levels.
To identify genetic variants in promoter areas of IL-6 -174 G>C and TNF-α -308 G>A in metabolic syndrome (Met S) and controls and associate them with Met S and serum cytokine levels. It was a cross-sectional study, including 224 cases of Met S and 200 controls.
In all youth, MetS severity was significantly associated with body fat %, ADP, interleukin-6 (IL-6) and TNF-α and also with CRP in PWS, but associations became non-significant for CRP and IL-6 when controlling for body fat %.
Using quantitative real-time PCR, we could show that the expression of intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha), and interleukin 6 (IL-6) significantly increased in peripheral blood leukocytes from "MetS" subjects (n=39) compared to "no MetS" subjects (n=35) 2 h after an oral glucose tolerance test (ICAM-1 +52%, TNF-alpha +107%, and IL-6 +38%) and also in vitro after 72 h cultivation in high-glucose medium (ICAM-1 +74%, TNF-alpha +71%, and IL-6 +44%).
They accepted the treatment of NB-UVB and the following data were collected: serum levels of IL-17 (interleukin), TNF-α (tumor necrosis factor) and IL-6, Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) scores before and after 10 sections of NB-UVB treatment.Significant PASI improvement was observed in psoriatic patients without MS after 10 sections of phototherapy, while patients with MS showed a less improvement (P < .001).
