We aimed to investigate the prognostic value and additional risk stratification benefits of CAD-RADS compared to coronary artery calcium scores (CACS) and CAD extent classifications in ischemic stroke patients without cardiac symptoms.
Consider SCAD as a potential etiology of cardiac ischemia in young, otherwise healthy patients Cardiac biomarker testing should be included in the initial evaluation of young patients who present with possible cardiac symptoms If unstable symptoms/ongoing ischemia are present, cardiac catheterization should be considered to diagnose and treat CAD regardless of etiology.
Finally, although it is difficult to draw clinical implications from a descriptive study, due to the comprehensiveness of Danish death certificates, we reported a high incidence of cardiac symptoms and contact with healthcare professionals based on cardiac symptoms in young SCD patients who died due to CAD, although death was not avoided.
