Quantitative PCR and Western blot were used to analyze (forkhead box P3) FOXP3 mRNA transcript levels and the expression of FOXP3 protein. In ACS patients, the percentage and inhibitory properties of nTregs were reduced, IFN-γ and hsCRP levels were increased, and IL-10 and TGF-β1 levels were lowered.
These data indicate that, for the first time, FOXP3 gene polymorphism may appear to play an important role in the susceptibility of ACS in Chinese Han population.
We aimed to evaluate Treg levels in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) using a method based on Treg-specific DNA demethylation within the FOXP3 gene.
To our knowledge and beyond the disease context of ACS, this study constitutes the first demonstration of a critical role for OPN in the positive regulation of inflammation through increased IL-17 production by CD4(+) CD45RA(-) FOXP3(lo) cells.
