Taken together, anethole demonstrated to act as the CXCR4 antagonist and as the PTEN activator which resulted to PI3K/AKT-mediated inhibition of the metastatic prostate cancer progressions.
Overall, the findings of this study suggest that RSG represents a novel inhibitor of CXCR4 expression and, thus, has significant potential as a powerful therapeutic agent for the treatment of metastatic PCa.
Thus high levels of the chemokine receptorCXCR4 induce a more aggressive phenotype in prostate cancer cells and identify CXCR4 as a potential therapeutic target in advanced cases of metastatic prostate cancer.
