Univariate and multivariate analysis showed that high levels of adiponectin after a 3-month treatment were associated with a 3.8-fold increased risk of MACE (p = 0.03), independent of amino-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels.
In addition, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, fasting plasma glucose, waist circumference, blood pressure, smoking status, high-sensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), adiponectin, ankle-brachial index, N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide, and history of comorbidities were also determined.
