In a clinical proof-of-principal study, we investigated FME for colorectal adenoma detection, using a fluorescently labelled antibody (bevacizumab-800CW) against vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA), which is highly upregulated in colorectal adenomas.
p53, p63, p73 and VEGF proteins were assessed in 45 colorectal adenomas (CRAs), 80 carcinomas (CRCs) and 36 normal colonic tissue samples (NCT) by immunohistochemistry.
HIF-1alpha and VEGF protein were detected in SW480 cells and colorectal adenomas and adenocarcinomas by immunohistochemistry using streptavidin/peroxidase (SP).
